Serpent Trail

The Serpent Trail is a 106km (65 miles) long route which begins at Haslemere on the Surrey/West Sussex border and ends in Petersfield, Hampshire. The route is so called because it reflects the serpentine trail of the route, starting with the serpents ’tongue’ in Haslemere High Street, the ‘head’ at Blackdown, and then the body twists and turns from west to east and west again through the greensand hills of the Western Weald.
The Serpent Trail map has been broken down into 16 stages, but of course you can choose to tackle it any way you wish. For the ambitious, the Serpent Trail Race is held each summer. There are options to run a 100k, 50k, 20k or 10k. The route is diverse in terrain and elevation, and there is plenty to see and do on the way from lakes to rivers, forests and hills. Titty Hill Farm is located at Stage 5, with the trail routing directly in front of the property.
The trail is often referred to as one of the most beautiful in the UK because of its magical route of rare habitats. The trail was opened by Chris Packham in 2005 and is maintained by volunteers.
